The Central Library of the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library operates as the national research and reference library in sociology. The basis of its uniquely rich collection of sociology and social sciences was developed by Ervin Szabó (1877-1918). The library systematically explores the material on national sociology and collects the complete sociological literature published in Hungary; foreign literature is also collected with heavy selection.
