Budapest, the capital, and the Town Protection Association for Budapest are both celebrating their birthdays. On the 150th anniversary of the unification of Buda-Pest and Óbuda, the 40-year-old BVE Photography Team collected typical images from the city's past, mainly from Fortepan's excellent archives. They sought out and captured the contemporary equivalents, preferably from the most suitable angles. The idea itself may not be new; we have seen many similar excellent works in recent times. However, more eyes see more, and in addition to the well-known iconic places, our group also attempted to find less spectacular but complementary images that validate the city through everyday life. In fifty years, the images we are witnessing today will become a part of history, providing a foundation for comparisons with the present.

The exhibition will be open from October 5 to October 20, 2023, during the library's opening hours.

The program is part of the National Library Days series of events.
