What You Need to Know About Locker
The locker is a book vending machine that is part of the existing services offered by the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library. While the MESZL Library of Soroksár and the MESZL Boulevard Library have had book lockers, the one at Lövölde Square marks the first public library locker in Budapest to offer readers the opportunity to pick up books from the MESZL Boulevard Library 24 hours a day. Additionally, if a compartment is empty, readers can also return books borrowed from the Boulevard Library there.
Service Launch Details
The service will be available from June 6, 2024, to readers with full library membership (library cards that include borrowing privileges) at the MESZL Boulevard Library.
A reservation fee of 300 HUF is applicable, which can be paid remotely.

How to Request a Book for the Locker
As our readers are familiar with, reserved books can be requested through the catalog, selecting the '1068 Lövölde tér, locker' field as the pickup point.
Readers will initially receive an email confirming the arrival of the reserved book at the library. However, a visit to Lövölde tér is only necessary if the reader also receives a message from the locker containing the titles of the books awaiting pickup and the one-time code to open the box. The locker can also be accessed by scanning the barcode on a valid library card.

How to Return a Book to the Locker
If a compartment is available, readers can place previously borrowed books inside. However, this action does not automatically remove the books from the readers' accounts. Official check-in occurs when librarians at the Boulevard Library manually record the return in the database. Since librarians place books in the locker only during working hours, returns are also limited to this time. Therefore, it's advisable to deposit the book in the locker 2-3 days before the due date to avoid any late fees.
After scanning the barcode of your library card and entering your password (usually the 4 digits of your birth month and day), click on the 'User Account' button and then on the 'Return Book' menu. The book must be placed in the opened compartment.

Ágnes Kovácsné Koreny, Director General of the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library, delivered a warm welcome speech.
