We are delighted to invite you to the premiere of our latest performance, a tribute to the genius of Giuseppe Verdi. This evening, you will hear excerpts from masterpieces such as Macbeth, Aida, and Don Carlos. Verdi’s art uniquely combines passion, drama, and the depths of human emotion, often exploring timeless themes such as love, the quest for power, the cruelty of fate, and the trials of the human soul. His music, both lyrical and monumental, expresses the deepest emotions, creates the most dramatic moments, and brings forth the most beautiful melodies.

Performers:
Sophia Acha (dramatic soprano)
Szabolcs Sándor (piano)

Program:
Macbeth: Vieni t'affretta... — Or tutti sorgete
Macbeth: Una macchia è qui tuttora
Un ballo in maschera: Morró, ma prima in grazia
Don Carlos: Tu che le vanità
Aida: Ritorna vincitor!
Otello: Canzone del Salice – Ave Maria

Sophia Acha developed her vocal skills with opera and oratorio singer Mária Ardó, who passed on the techniques of Zsolt Bende and József Simándy. She studied the art of speech with Judit Havas and, since 2022, has continued her development under the mentorship of American dramatic soprano Cheryl Studer. Between 2016 and 2019, she participated in the Ambassador Program of the Hungarian State Opera House and, starting in 2018, attended masterclasses with renowned artists like Irena Sylia, Lisette Oropesa, Olga Peretyatko, Capucine Chiaudani, and Ildikó Komlósi. As a freelance singer, she has performed in various European cities, making her domestic opera debut in 2022 as La Ciesca in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi. Her repertoire consists primarily of works by Puccini and other verismo composers, as well as pieces by Verdi, Wagner and Richard Strauss.

Since 2011, Dr. Szabolcs Sándor has served as the Music Director of the Opera Master’s Department at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. He has worked with singers since 1996 as a pianist, répétiteur and conductor, spending 15 seasons with the Hungarian State Opera House. His international career has taken him across Europe, as well as to China and Mexico. Dr. Sándor is a permanent guest pianist at the Éva Marton International Singing Competition and the Tenor Viñas International Singing Competition in Barcelona. In 2018, he earned a scientific doctorate and has collaborated with numerous international and national singing competition winners in opera and song-oratorio categories.
