Agreement with the Józsefváros Municipality

The Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library and the Municipality of Józsefváros have signed a public cultural partnership agreement. The document was signed by Mayor András Pikó, Director General Ágnes Kovácsné Koreny, and Financial Director Károly Eszter.

The agreement aims to promote close and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two institutions. As part of this collaboration, MESZL will provide free or discounted space at both the Central Library and the Library of Kálvária tér for activities related to the district’s participatory budgeting, election organization, and various municipal programs.

Under the terms of the agreement, MESZL will organize guided tours, museum education sessions, and children’s programs for students attending public schools in District VIII. Additionally, it will offer free reading promotion, cultural mediation, and personal development programs for district residents. These initiatives are supported by municipal funding aligned with the annual budget.

Through the Book Delivery Service program, the Library of Kálvária tér and the local government work together to ensure access to library services for users who are temporarily or permanently homebound. Elderly residents of the district also benefit from digital skills and competency development programs - for example, the library’s Netrevalók initiative is coordinated with a similar program at the Glove Factory Community House.

In line with the agreement, the Central Library and the Library of Kálvária tér offer free or 50% discounted memberships to residents in need and to employees of municipal budgetary institutions.
