Establishment of sociological department in FSZEK (Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library)
László Remete's proposal for the establishment of a new independent sociological department in FSZEK (Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library).
By the decree of Budapest Municipal Council announced on 22nd May 1973 approved the establishment of the independent department.
The name of the organizational unit was Sociological Documentation Department, László Remete was assigned to be head of department from 1st July.
Renowned sociologists were called upon by Ministry of Culture and Budapest Municipal Council to analyse the sociological holdings and services of Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library.
András Hegedűs was called on to evaluate and analyse in 1964, Ágnes Heller and Iván Szelényi in 1966. Partly due to the positive evaluation, the library was appointed to be the national reference library on sociology.
