Ágai Karola és Szendrey-Karper László

The recognition was set up by the Ágai Karola and Szendrey-Karper László Foundation for Vocal and Musical Arts. Founded in 2010 following the passing of Ágai Karola, its purpose is twofold: to carry forward the legacy of the Szendrey-Karper László International Guitar Festival Foundation, initially established by the esteemed Kossuth Prize-winning artist, and to cherish the memory of the opera singer and guitarist artist couple.

Sculptor János Krasznai crafted the memorial medal, which is awarded to an opera singer in one year and a guitarist in the subsequent year. In 2014, coloratura soprano Márta Szűcs received the recognition for the first time, followed by guitarist András Csáki in 2015, and then coloratura soprano Klára Kolonits in 2016. In 2018, vocal recognition was awarded to Eszter Sümegi, while Zoltán Tokos received recognition for guitar performance. Due to the Covid pandemic, it was only last year that the Katona Duo from England and József Zsapka, the guitarist from Pozsony (Bratislava), received their well-deserved honors. Following the passing of a former guitarist and member of the Board of Trustees, Sándor Szilvágyi, the Foundation paid tribute to his artistic legacy by installing a plaque - an honor he couldn't have received as a trustee. Szilvia Rálik was awarded the prize two years ago, but there was no opportunity to present it. This year, they will make up for it. They also pay their respects to Magda Nádor, who has already retired from singing; however, her worldwide successes will be highlighted in the program.

True to tradition, Máté Hollós, the chairman of the board, will engage in a conversation on stage with the artists who are receiving their certificates of recognition and memorial medals. Moreover, Szilvia Rálik will also perform a few musical pieces alongside Emese Virág, the pianist who established the foundation.
The foundation's trustees include opera singers Ingrid Kertesi and Tamás Clementis, guitarists József Eötvös and András Csáki, and lawyer Dr. Éva Babos.
