Important information for using the Ukrainian Bookshelf
This service is available in the Central Library of Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library (Budapest, VIII. Szabó Ervin tér 1., entrance on Reviczky street).
The Ukrainian Bookshelf is found on the ground floor, in the Browsing area. The children’s books are on the first floor, in the children’s library.
Visiting the library requires a membership.
The Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library allows Ukrainian refugees to register free of charge in the Central Library from 5 April 2023.
A document of identification is required for proof of Ukrainian citizenship. The exemption does not apply to other service fees.
Membership can be acquired by
- all Hungarian and European citizens, who are of age and are action-capable;
- all foreign citizens with a temporary or continuous residence permit;
- all foreign citizens with a Hungarian identity card or a Hungarian relative's identity card with the general conditions applicable to Hungarian citizens;
- all persons under 18 or with restricted or no capability of action, by guarantor-ship of his/her official representative;
- and all foreign citizens not belonging to any of the above categories, by guarantor-ship with a Hungarian citizen as his/her guarantor
