We are commemorating our significant anniversary on the occasion of the 150th birthday of the sculptor János Horvay. While Horvay may not have achieved the renown of sculptors like Alajos Stróbl, and his name may not be as widely recognized, thanks to his rich oeuvre, the country is full of his works, including in Theresa Town (Terézváros). Horvay was also part of Kossuth Ferenc's circle; he developed a particular expertise in portraying Kossuth, producing two to three portraits or statue groups annually between 1902 and 1908, showcasing the leader of the Hungarian War of Independence. Throughout the country's main squares, there are 20 statues of Kossuth, with the most prominent and renowned one located in Budapest's Lajos Kossuth Square. We honor the sculptor with an exhibition featuring the photography group from the Budapest Town Protection Association.
Admission is free, but prior registration is required via email at fszek0601@fszek.hu. Upon successful registration, you will receive a confirmation email.
