Gergely Karácsony, the Mayor of Budapest, representing the Municipality of Budapest, which supports the publishing of the book, welcomed the guests, then Krisztián Nyáry had a conversation with Dóra Péczely and István Tasnádi, the editors of the book. Then the background of the publication of the Grand Novel and the Budapest Book Capital programme was introduced by Ágnes Kovácsné Koreny, the Deputy Director General of MESZL, and Csaba Faix, the Chief Executive Officer of Budapest Brand. Lastly Máté Gáspár, the art director of Budapest Brand, which publishes the book, and Liam Browne talked about further events in the project and its integration into Ulysses: European Odyssey programme, supported by the European Union.
As part of the Grand Novel Budapest project, 23 popular modern writers wrote the chapters of each district, using local history anecdotes and local legends among citizens, evoking the unique characters, places and stories of this everchanging city. The MESZL mainly helped in the creation of this book by participating in the collection of citizens' stories in every district, among other things.
