Mothers, Children – An Exhibition by the Corvin Artists' Circle
Held in the Exhibition Hall of the Central Library, this exhibition by the Corvin Artists' Circle (founded in 1964, re-established in 2023 – more info here) presents the creative expressions of both amateur and professional contemporary artists from Budapest’s District XVI.
Theme: Mothers and Children
The theme was inspired by Mother's Day, celebrated on 4 May in Hungary. Although the date varies across countries, the celebration’s roots trace back to ancient Greece. In Hungary, Mother’s Day was officially recognized as a holiday in 1928. Through their works, our artists explore the meaning of the mother-child relationship. The exhibition includes personal interpretations of motherhood, self-reflections by mothers, and perspectives from men on family and maternal roles.
