The short history of Királyerdei Library
The current 21/3, Királyerdei Library started from two points:
- In 1975 the Main Library of Csepel opened on 230 St. István street with 650 m2, operating until 2006 on this address.
- In 1981, the predecessor of the current library opened on 92 Széchenyi street.
Kindergarten activities: every Thursday morning.
Groups from the nearby kindergartens visit us for thematic activities, get to know our library and sometimes borrow books.
Meridian-workout: since 2009, every two weeks. Workout based on the stimulation of the Chinese meridian lines.
Hosted by Krisztina Tompa, retired PE teacher, who studied and took an exam from Ajándok Eőry, letting her hold official sessions.
Eye-workout: every two weeks hosted by Krisztina Tompa. Massaging the acupressure points around the eyes.
Crochet Club: since 2015.
Every Thursday morning our readers learn from each other the technique of crocheting.
Origami Club: since 2015 once a month.
Members are folding paper to create various 3D figurines.
Math-coaching: since 2016, every week.
Györgyné Plank helps elementary school students get over the hurdles of Maths.
Creative Club: 2008-2014, every Friday afternoon.
Those interested could get to know the various techniques (decoupage, satinising, rock painting, beadwork, salt-flour play-dough, gypsum, paper-folding, etc.)
“Hahota” (Laughter) Club: 2009-2016, every Thursday afternoon, after closing.
The attendees used the healing powers of laughter, with the lead of Benjamin Biczók laughter-trainer, who studied from Ferenc Domján, the Hungarian founder of “Hahota” (Laughter).
Happiness Club: 2016-2018, once a month.
The attendees shared their traveling stories with photos and videos.
Exhibitions: We regularly give space for introductions of creators and collectors. Our most interesting exhibitions: 3D-postcards,, minerals, Csepel 100, thimbles, beadwork jewellery and animals, hand-carved chess sets, teddy-bear collection, mandalas, hedgehog collection, glass ornaments, Tiffany-lamps, many creators’ paintings, postcard-collections...
