Eötvös Library

We consider the Mosolygó Antal street Library as the predecessor of Eötvös Library. It had operated on 100 m2 as a library with a familial feel. In the 15th District, in Rákospalota, the library opened in May 1999 with - considering the circumstances at the time - a large area of operation and excellent book stock, welcoming everyone from kindergarten age up to the elderly. At this time, CD-borrowing was also a significant service besides book and periodical borrowing.
Between 2000 and 2004, in a culturally changed world and with the appearance of the internet, the whole library network was searching for an opportunity of reform - as was Eötvös Library.
On the internet connection were established between the various libraries of Budapest, then with the introduction of computerized borrowing the distances and the library walls has disappeared.
Today, you can even search in any library’s catalog from home, and you can check if the book of your interest is available.
From 2005, the image of the library was accommodated to the new trends. At this time, the DVD- and audio book-borrowing grew in significance. The Krúdy Literature Club, operating in the library, regularly held presentations and talks, inviting poets and writers, and also held art exhibitions.
User-friendly themes were introduced (e.g. family studies, nature, hobby, etc.)
We gladly welcome all Readers, from kindergarten age up to the elderly. A wide variety of books, periodicals, CDs, DVDs and slide strips are ready to be borrowed, continuously renewed stock and popular literature.
The Cserhát Artist Group also found their space in our library, its members regularly hold exhibitions and book presentations.
We regularly hold - mainly in the theme of holidays - crafts activities for children.
Close to the center of Rákospalota, we gladly welcome our Readers in a friendly, suburban environment!
