The Opening of the Ukrainian Bookshelf
The Central Library of the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library has inaugurated the Ukrainian Bookshelf, thanks to a generous donation of 350 books from the Embassy of Ukraine in Hungary. The Ukrainian Bookshelf project at the Central Library is part of a wider initiative that provides similar services in 35 countries across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. These services aim to support Ukrainian refugees and provide them with access to literature in their native language.
Welcome speeches were given by István Balog, Ukraine's Chargé d'Affaires a.i. for Hungary, Gábor Kerpel-Fronius, Deputy Mayor of Budapest and Péter Fodor, Director General of the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library.
The opening ceremony was moderated by Ferenc Farkas, Director of the Central Library, and singer Viktória Koloszova also participated, adding a touch of cultural flair to the occasion.
