The predecessor of Babits Library started its operation in 1983 in the Káposztásmegyer Community Center, on an area of approx. 70-80 square meters. It was a community lot and still is, the cultural center of the expanding residential complex of Káposztásmegyer. The library fit itself into a colourful, lively intellectual life, although the small area hampered the chances of expanding our services. This dire situation only changed, when the issue was taken up by the district’s government. This lead to the opening of a renewed Babits Library in 2002 on a bigger, more proper area. In a short time, we welcomed almost 3000 readers, started new services and the library became a gem of Káposztásmegyer. In the children’s nook we have crafts workshops for kids, with the an adept supervisor.
