About the Library
Our library welcomed readers on the Budafok hillside, on the corner of Tóth József and Kereszt street from 1951 to 2008 June. The small library building could not meet the growing interest anymore. The development programme of the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library was supported by the district and capital governments. The Hungarian National Assembly granted support for the citizens of Budafok-Tétény to build a new, modern library. The building was built on the property of the district government by the plans of Ybl award-winner architect Péter Hegedűs and interior designer Mihály Hefkó, and its opening ceremony took place on 24th June 2008. The five-story, 1120 m² library offers a wide range of services alongside the adult and children’s library. In the reader’s areas the users can find 30 000 books and periodicals to borrow, 300 audiobooks, 900 musical CDs and 50 periodicals and newspapers. Our goal is to create a pleasant atmosphere for all ages, and provide a great social and cultural experience as well as a welcoming place for studying and learning knowledge on various fields for the patrons of Budafok-Tétény. To this end, the employees of the library are happy to help all users. Feel free to use our services on the phone, on the internet and in person. We look forward to your visit.
