The branch library of the Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library, located in the 12th district, was established on Böszörményi road in 1952; near the library building, the children's library was set up and developed in 1964. The institution became one of the busiest libraries of Buda, visited by many readers (children and teens as well as adults) in the period of the past (more than) 5 decades; however, it could meet the changed interests of users less and less, it was also more difficult to meet the demand for access to information.
The professional program drawn up in the network development strategy of Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library was consistent with the objective pursued by metropolitan government and municipality of the 12th district: to build a new, modern library for the citizens of Hegyvidék (12th district). The common idea was realized by joint investments and with the reconstruction of Ugocsa Cinema ("out of work" for more than 5 years), located on the site that can be reached well, some hundreds meters far from the old library. The new two-storey library of 600 square meters floor space offers several services including the circulation of books, journals, CDs and DVDs, children's library, reading room, reading area of journals and periodicals, online catalogue and internet access. The service of an elevator is also provided for mothers-to-be and the phisically handicapped to make library use more convenient.
All of our readers (the former ones and new visitors) are welcome to the modern library with nice environment, in expanded opening hours, 50 hours a week, including Saturdays.
