Miklós Tomka (1941-2010)
"On a nice spring day in 2006, some of the one-time students of Miklós Tomka, we were talking about the good old days.
Let's admit that when we were university students, there was something exciting enthusiasm in students. We believed that we would be able to do miraculous things and there would be great achievements putting on the table of science; to reach these goals we had some teachers, who expected hard work and handed over their knowledge and experience to us. It is true that the number of students in a class was less than now, on the faculty of sociology, anyway. We took part in most of the lessons together, so we had the opportunity to think together with our teachers and mates and we could create personal relations easily.
Talking about such things we realized how lucky we were by spending school years in that period. "A step forward" and we decided to write in honour of our TEACHER on the occasion of his 65th birthday. Our plan was forming slowly (but steadily) and we guessed that former and present colleagues would join the "project of commemoration", besides former students. There are much more people than the authors of the volume and participants of the conference who supported the idea of the "project" with pleasure, however, they are too busy or ill, so they cannot take part in the commemoration.
